Our Story

Building our homestead from the ground up while balancing modern life, corporate careers, and the dream of something slower and more intentional.

Hi, nice to meet you.

We’re a husband-and-wife team balancing full-time careers while building our future homestead one project, season, and lesson at a time.

At the end of 2025, we purchased 40 acres with the dream of creating a life rooted in self-sufficiency, hard work, good food, livestock, and a deeper connection to the land.

But long before the acreage, we started small. We secretly raised meat rabbits in our suburban garage, learning as we went, and taking beekeeping classes while trying to figure out where we could even keep our hives since we couldn’t have bees at home. We spent years finding little ways to build this life before it fully existed.

Herd & Homestead is where we document that process honestly — the wins, the mistakes, the projects, and everything we’re learning along the way.

Building It From The Ground Up

We’re still at the beginning of this journey.

Right now, that looks like raising rabbits, planning future livestock and gardens, learning new skills, improving the land, and slowly turning raw acreage into the homestead we’ve dreamed about for years.

We’re not experts, and we definitely don’t have everything figured out. But we believe there’s value in starting before things feel perfect — and in sharing the process honestly as we go.

Why We Started

Like many people, we found ourselves craving a slower and more meaningful way of living.

Modern life often pushes speed, convenience, and constant productivity — but we wanted something more grounded. We wanted to know where our food came from, learn practical skills, spend more time outdoors, and build a life centered around family, purpose, and creating something real with our own hands.

Homesteading became more than a hobby for us. It became the foundation for the kind of life we want to build.
